Approach

Through my education and teaching experience, I developed a community based and constructivist approach that I apply when working with clients.

To effectively provide Executive Functioning Coaching, I conduct an assessment of where the challenges are coming up and work with the client to develop a set of goals. With younger students, it is helpful when me, the family and teachers are on the same page and have consistent communication. Building this community helps the student have holistic support and accelerate progress. With adult clients, this looks like tapping into other resources that they have available to them and connecting with members on their support team to provide coaching that is tailored to them.

When working with clients on writing projects, I also spend time understanding the full scope of the assignment and identifying which aspects of the process are most daunting.

Through a constructivist approach, a healthy learning environment is built upon knowledge from the coach and client. As I build a relationship with the client, I integrate their interests and experiences into the lesson to create an environment based on shared knowledge.

“I overcame the fear of not being good enough, I did very well because I learned it’s ok to be wrong and different because people can accept me.” -Advisee student
