Writing Consulting

What are the benefits of working with a writing consultant?

There are many times in life we may find ourselves tasked with a writing project that can feel overwhelming and stressful. We start to lose ourselves in an endless sea of pages, only to conclude that the logical choice is to start over! Working with a writing consultant can help you develop a plan to accomplish this task in manageable steps and meet the deadline. Additionally, they can help you uncover and refine your key ideas and message from the beginnings of a draft or brainstorm. Lastly, they can ensure you are writing with clarity and tact.

As someone who has written countless papers between middle and graduate school and has a passion for creative writing, I love helping individuals with their writing projects. Experience and Approach

In addition to my own writing projects, I have worked with students on their application essays for years and underwent training to become an application coach in 2016. More recently, I have supported graduate students in Teachers College with their dissertations. Through pursuing a career as an elementary teacher, I learned how to teach writing to typically developing students and students with disabilities; I also currently serve as a high school English teacher in a 1:1 setting. I have taught analytical writing and research paper writing skills to high school students with ADHD, Autism, FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome), and memory challenges.

When working with clients, I find it is important to take a grounded and compassionate approach. Most people can find be really hard on themselves and get hung up on self-doubt, leading them to feel overwhelmed and with a project that never seems to get done. Allow me to be your guide and accountability partner, helping you develop a sense of confidence in your work and progress. As a consultant, the most important part for me is that the client has a sense of pride about their finished product and growth over the course of our work together.
